Video links and captions

When you request a new analysis, the YouTube video ID is sent to Supadata to retrieve existing captions. The server also requests the video title and author from YouTube. We do not send your network address as part of the caption request.

The caption snapshot, video title, author, timestamps and word statistics are stored so future visits can reuse the report. Reports remain available until removed by the site operator. Anyone with a report link can view it. Only a small set of selected public examples appears in the homepage gallery; other report pages ask search engines not to index them. This is not an access restriction. Do not submit sensitive or private video links.

Limits and basic usage counts

The hosting service receives your IP address when serving the site. Yap Lab uses a secret-keyed hash of the network address and UTC date to apply daily new-video limits. The application stores that changing identifier with request reservations for up to 45 days, with cleanup on subsequent new-analysis reservations. It does not store the raw network address in its report database.

We keep aggregate daily counts of analysis requests, cache hits, report views, and provider successes or failures to understand costs and reliability. These counts contain no advertising identifier. Hosting and caption providers may keep their own operational logs under their policies.

Video playback and images

The embedded YouTube player is created only when you select a timestamp. Playback connects your browser to YouTube, which may process usage information under its own policies. Report PNG images are generated in your browser.

Advertising and cookies

No advertising network or third-party analytics script is currently loaded by Yap Lab. We do not set an application tracking cookie. We will update this page and configure the relevant consent controls before enabling advertising. Hosting-level access or security features may use their own cookies.

Service providers

Yap Lab is hosted through ChatGPT Sites on Cloudflare. Caption requests use Supadata, and video metadata and playback use YouTube / Google.
