A little word curiosity
Yap Lab makes patterns in spoken language easier to explore.
A favourite word can be a running joke, a recurring theme, or simply a habit. We turn a video’s captions into a visual report, then connect each word to the moments where it appears.
Useful, with a sense of humour
Creators can spot repetitive language. Editors can find matching caption moments. Curious viewers can compare their expectations with what a video actually says. The playful comments on the report are generated from simple word counts.
A free tool built around shared results
Reports are saved so many people can enjoy the same analysis without repeating the caption fetch. New analyses have usage limits to keep the service affordable. Advertising is planned as a possible way to support free use; no advertising network is currently active.
What this tool can tell you
Yap Lab measures words in available captions. It does not measure intelligence, honesty, emotion, speech quality or a person’s character. Caption errors and missing words affect the results.
Yap Lab is an independent project and is not affiliated with YouTube or Google. Videos remain on YouTube, and playback uses its embedded player.
